Amazon ad „The show must go on“
This year we had to face the horrible Covid-19 pandemy which stopped our lives at least for a while. It affected all the world, so marketing strategists thought about everything and took advantage of the situation creating some wonderful ad campaigns related to how it affected us. That’s what Amazon, the world's largest online retailer did. They created an inspirational advertisement, how they wrote below their advertisement on Youtube: „ <..> story of a young dancer whose spirit and tenacity triumphs through the challenges of 2020. All with a little help from her family and community.“
We really liked this advertisement not just because it’s related to what happened to us this year, but also because it encourages all of us not to fear bigger challenges in our lives, no matter when and how it’s happening. It’s must to do, because advertisements should also not sell, but inspire. And this worked with Amazon this time.
Oreo ad „Proud parent“
At this hard time we are not also living with a fear of Covid. Some people live in the shadows while hiding their sexual orientation too. Homophobic behaviour is still a vast problem in the world and even the of the biggest American sandwich cookie company OREO encourages be proud of who you are and also be proud for your close people, who maybe are homosexual.
In this ad you can see a little bit of branding their cookies, but the bigger part of this advertisement is an impressive story about two young girls and father who need some time to admit that he is proud of his daughter and her significant other.
Because as the ad says: „A loving world starts with a loving home.“
Burger King ad „The Moldy Whopper“
You could say: „Ewww.. Gross.. There’s nothing to like“. You could be right. But on the other hand, even though this Burger King ad doesn’t look „delicious“, it has something that's attractive to watch while this Moldy Whopper rots in a 34 days period.
Actually, it was made as Burger King announcement that they had removed artificial preservatives, colors, and flavors from their Whopper. Furthermore, it can be seen as a good response at McDonald’s burger that had barely changed over the 20 years.
So we liked it as a statement where the truth becomes visual and according to Khoros.com: „Burger Kings’ example is to not be afraid to take risks and run unconventional campaigns, as long as the underlying message frames your brand or product in a positive light.“
Netflix: The Spoiler Billboard
THIS. WAS. JUST. AWESOME.
#STAYTHEFUCKHOME was one of the best advertising campaigns that was made during Covid-19. It was made with a little bit of passive aggressive thinking to spoil people’s favorite shows details if they will go outside during the pandemy. But it was all for our sake and we hope that it worked at least a little bit for people who live in countries where these ads could be seen.
Disney: From our family to yours
As Disney Youtube channel described: „While times change and people grow, beloved family traditions make lifelong memories that cross“. So this advertisement is one of the most heart-warming stories which shows how important family is.
We want to be with our friends and we sometimes don’t understand how it is important to treat your family well, but this advertisement shows that there’s always something worth understanding, especially before holidays.
These advertisements are the most memorable stories we’ve seen. What’s yours, share in the comments!
